Tabo Monastery

Called as Tabo Chos Khor Monastery is located in Tabo village of Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh, in northern India. This gompa was built in 996 CE in Tibetan year and is noted for being oldest continuously operating Buddhist enclave in both India as well as in Himalayas. There are many collections of thankas or scroll paintings, manuscripts, statues, frescos and murals.
