Seven sisters- known as Paradise Unexplored are the seven states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura of north east India providing a very unique and different experience. The great ethnic, gorgeous and religious diversity makes it’s a must-visiting tourist destination in its own way.

These states are greatly forested and have plentiful rainfall. There are numerous beautiful wildlife sanctuaries, tea-estates and rivers like Brahmaputra. This region is rich in landscape, flora & fauna and housing to one-horned rhinoceros, elephants and other endangered wildlife.

Places to visit in Seven Sisters

Assam: Known as Ahom hosting a hospitable culture & rich heritage and is famous for Tea and silk. Places to visit Kamakhya Temple, Kaziranga National Park and Majuli- largest river-island in Asia. Must attend Bihu festival celebrated representing changing of season.

Meghalaya: Regarded as abode of clouds is a tiny state blessed with plenty of rain whole year. It has a lot of greenery & ample water bodies all across, and r having large variety of orchids.

Arunachal Pradesh: Regarded as land of dawn-lit mountains is blessed with high peak hill and dense. Discover famed Buddhist monasteries as Tawang & Bomdila and the Ziro Festival.

Manipur: Known as Jewelled land is home to adventure sports activities, dense forests, arts and rich culture heritage. It is famous for varied flora-fauna, classical dances and exquisite handicrafts.

Mizoram: A land of rolling hills, valleys, rivers and lakes. Mizoram has third highest total forest among the states of India. It housing to numerous species of birds, wildlife and flora & fauna.

Tripura: Known as Hill Tippera. There are five mountain ranges as Boromura, Atharamura, Longtharai, Shakhan and Jampui Hills. It has highest number of primate species found in any Indian state.

Nagaland: The land of Naga or falcon capital of the world or land of festivals. Nagaland is mostly a mountainous state and Mt. Saramati is the highest peak of state. There are numerous wooded forests which is a haven for flora & fauna.


This region is very diverse have wonderful things to explore, feel and see around the year in each and every season. It depends upon what things you want to discover.

Best times to go with state-wise are as:

  • Assam – All year round.
  • Meghalaya: April to June.
  • Arunachal Pradesh: October to March.
  • Manipur: October to March.
  • Mizoram: All throughout the year.
  • Tripura: All throughout the year.
  • Nagaland: October to May.

  • These are some points to be taken care of while traveling to North-Eastern region of India::

    • A proper VISA to enter and stay in India is a must.
    • Before entering into states like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland travelers need to have Restricted Area Permission.
    • Always keep a first aid box with sufficient mosquito repellent to prevent mosquito bite.
    • Don’t enter a temple, tomb, dargah or Gurudwara with shoes on and/or scantily dressed.
    • Always drink safe mineral water and take well-cooked food.
    • Don’t photograph women without permission.
    • Avoid taking photographs of places where filming is restricted.
    • Avoid public drunkenness and drugs.
    • Keep contact numbers of local representatives and police stations.
    • Keep update with climate and political situation of destination.
    • Do not carry any kind of firearms, ammunition or toxic material which strictly prohibited.
